We’ve made it through what feels like a month of thunderstorms, rain showers, and the occasional flooding of potted plants over here. Naturally, there’s more to come in the next few days. Instead of letting these gray days get to us, we’ve thought up some of the most fun ways to spend rainy days cozy inside.

1. Organize little spaces in your home. Putting off the coat closet? That spare room? How about that last box from your move a year ago (asking for a friend)? Rainy, dreary days are the perfect ones to start tackling these projects. Start small and rack up those little victories. You’ll feel more organized and very accomplished at the end – and that Netflix binge will be well-deserved. Check out this earlier post on spring cleaning, this one on curating your china cabinet, this one on organizing your design notebook, and this one on styling your shelves.

2. Host a game night. Put a few bottles of wine on ice, set out your best bourbon (we prefer 1792 for sipping neat, optional to add a few cherries), and pop a few snack items like pretzels, trail mix, bar mix, etc. into small bowls or dishes and get ready to keep score.

3. Learn something new in the kitchen. Hone your culinary finesse with a new recipe. Think outside of the box. We’ve learned how to make ramen, bouillabaisse, and summer rolls during snowstorms and thunderstorms. Invite a few friends over for taco night, sushi rolling, or an indoor potluck tailgate.
4. Set up a movie viewing party. Have your guests arrive in their finest athleisure or lounge wear. Set up a popcorn bar with individual popcorn bags and bowls of toppings – peanut m&ms (my personal favorite combo with popcorn), Old Bay seasoning, Jacobsen salts, etc. Prop up extra cozy pillows on your sofa and on the living room rug and queue up a favorite classic.
5. Learn something new. Post up with that new book you’ve been dying to get into (a few on my list here and here) or take up a new hobby like calligraphy, watercolor, or needlepoint. Crack the screen door open or head to the nearest Florida room with a glass of crisp rose and listen to the rain.
