How to Add Little Touches of Spookiness to Your Home

Spiders and poms and candles, oh my! I just love Halloween and the spookiness that comes with the holiday. It’s one of those holidays where a little goes a long way. A few strategically-placed candles and hints of Halloween make for a perfectly festive, but not overdone, home.

I started off by using these orange and black pom pom picks to accent our fall arrangements for the holiday. They were so simple to add in and created a fun and whimsical feel.

Now, you guys know I do not do spiders. Yet, somehow these little beaded spiders crept into my basket at Pottery Barn last year and I didn’t even flinch. They sold out so fast, but there are a few on eBay if you’re really in love! Naturally, I had to add a little black bow to each one. They are perfect perched on our sideboard.

There are a few things I’m always on the lookout for whenever I’m out shopping. Candlesticks and votive candles are some of those things.

I love shopping the day after a holiday especially. You can find all sorts of treasures! I’m always on the hunt for black unscented candles. They are a great way to add a chic yet spooky feel to your home for Halloween. I scatter them throughout our bookshelves and built-ins.

I found these little black velvet and plastic pumpkins at Target last year and thought they’d be a great little pop against some of our silver pieces.

This pumpkin fits right in on our guest towels in the powder room.

And, I found this glittered black cat two years ago. He came with the worst velvet and rhinestone bow, which I promptly ripped off and replaced with this orange polka dot one for something a little more fun. It’s all in the details.

Oh, and you can find our Pottery Barn magazine basket here, in case y’all are interested! I wish I could source our guest towel holder. I purchased it at an interior design firm’s storefront closing earlier this year along with my match striker on our sideboard.

Hope this inspires you to add a few subtle touches to your home to celebrate! Happy (early) Halloween!
