Blending Old with New and High with Low

Antique malls, open air markets, and thrift shops can be your golden ticket to some really special vintage finds, but they can be so overwhelming sometimes. Now if only you had someone who could grab those items for you…

If you were to hand-pick a friend with a fabulous eye for gorgeous one-of-a-kind pieces, it would be Capitol Vintage Charm. Capitol Vintage Charm’s Etsy shop is chock full of well-curated finds from chinoiserie to mid-century. I practically hoard silver Revere bowls, so these (and this one) are on my list. How fun would these vintage green glasses be for the holidays and Easter brunch?

I was absolutely thrilled to incorporate some of Capitol Vintage Charm’s finds in one of my recent fall tablescapes, which blended old and new finds at high and low costs.

I chose a basic cream tablecloth with a bright gold leaf design (purchased recently at Home Goods, similar here) and inexpensive gold chargers (similar here) as the base of the tabletop. Our fine china mixed in perfectly with this stunning set of Imari plates from Capitol Vintage Charm and teacups that I found at a vintage shop near Charlottesville.

I absolutely love brass candlesticks and try to collect vintage pairs of them wherever I happen to find them. I love mixing and matching pairs that are similar but not exactly the same. It adds a certain dimension to a table, and the brass gives off the perfect amount of warmth for a fall harvest dinner party. A set of ten is here to start, or bolster, your collection.

I wanted to add a colorful pop to contrast the gold and bring out the colors in the plates. I love the combination of purple and gold, so when I saw these Crate and Barrel violet napkins, I had to have them.

The detailing on each of the set of ten Imari plates is just beautiful. I love the fun, vibrant patterns. They were the stars of this table.

The gold rim around these tumblers (also from Capitol Vintage Charm) tied in perfectly with the rest of the tabletop. They add a bright pop and help to break up some of the formality of the place settings.

These servers were perfect along with these leaves I recently purchased at Williams Sonoma (similar Aerin catchall here).

And this tortoise ice bucket is too much fun to leave off!

I kept the floral arrangement simple, using two low arrangements and one high one. The flowers are white hydrangea, berries, and purple Craspedia.
