My Packing List for a Weekend Getaway in the Sun

Florida is by far at its best in February and March. The sun is shining and everyone seems to be ready to get away from the cold everywhere else. It’s also the perfect opportunity to break out those colorful frocks you’ve been dying to wear.

If y’all are anything like me, you’ve been stocking up since the Lilly Pulitzer After Party Sale in August. And the Tuckernuck Sample Sale, and the Sail to Sable Warehouse Sale…should I keep going? Anyway, I’ve clearly been waiting to wear some of my fabulous finds, so I’m thrilled to finally have the chance to.

Here’s how I packed for a winter weekend getaway to Florida:

Item #1: Shoes, shoes, shoes

An easy weekend getaway somewhere warm means there are really only three pairs that I need: a pool/spa pair, a night out pair, and a running around pair. Alright, plus I wore flats on the plane and I packed my tennies, which sadly didn’t get used (it’s vacation, right??).

I packed my trusty Jack Rogers jellies that I picked up ages ago at the Homestead for the pool. These are adorable, similar, and under $50.

Loeffler Randall is a brand I keep going back to (I go a half size up in their shoes always). These white sandals are so fabulous (the white is sold out, sadly) that I’m contemplating buying them in brown. The wedges (also pictured above) are my favorites and I packed them last year, too (similar here)! I also bought these earlier this season and can’t wait to wear them (they’re at the cobbler getting protective soles put on).

Item #2: Swimsuits

I’m new to the Marysia bandwagon, but I am fully on board. The quality and comfort – you just can’t beat it! They are super flattering, comfortable, and I can’t wait to mix and match them. I have the Antibes style and the Palm Springs style.

My two current favorite one-pieces are by Solid and Striped and Lilly Pulitzer. The blue and white print (of course) is one of Lilly’s. The striped is Solid and Striped – the Anne Marie style is my favorite for one-pieces (love this one in navy on sale).

Item #3: Beach to Bopping Outfits

When I’m somewhere on the beach or where being by the pool is going to be a big part of my vacation, I always make sure that my dresses can pull double duty. That’s why Persifor and Sail to Sable are go-to’s for me when it comes to packing.

Persifor’s Winpenny (pictured below in pink leopard) is the most comfortable and versatile dress out there, hands down. And, if you haven’t tried on the classic tunic dresses from Sail to Sable, you are seriously missing out. Both of these options fit in naturally with sandals or jellies, by the pool or at a chic restaurant for lunch.

I snagged these goodies from Lilly in Williamsburg last year. I wish they’d come back with this balloon-sleeve blouse. The shorts are scalloped and fit so nicely (true to size).

Item #4: Outfits for Evenings Out

Oop…it’s another tunic dress buried underneath two Lilly sale finds! I snagged the maxi tunic dress during Sail to Sable’s Warehouse Sale, which is so good it’s going into my “annual sales I follow” drawer. Don’t worry – I’ll let you guys know when it comes up again. Make sure you’re following me on Instagram as I’ll likely post it to my stories! The other two dresses, as I mentioned, are finds from the last Lilly sale.

Item #5: Plane clothes

White cropped jeans and cashmere layers make the perfect airplane-ware this time of year. I layered my Lilly cashmere poncho over a light cashmere sweater and paired the ensemble with summery-but-not-too cropped white pants and ballet flats. Done!
