A new season means it’s time for a trip to the shoe store. If you’re in the area and you haven’t been to Ramer’s in DC, plan your trip ASAP. If you’ve been around here, you know we are there every three months for a proper fitting and we love, love it. They carry shoes from infant on up. The folks there are truly helpful and take all of the guesswork out of finding the perfect fit for your littles.

We’ve been following the same formula for a few seasons now, so I thought I’d share it with you all today.

Here is my shoe formula:

2 pairs of tennies (we love New Balance. You can also find them on Zappos and at Nordstrom)

1 pair of brown leather sandals (we normally travel somewhere warm in the winter months, so still purchase these in traditionally colder months). This is the exact pair we always get.

1 pair of saddle shoes for church and dressier events (navy/white in the fall/winter and ecru/white in the spring/summer)

1 pair of waterproof sandals in the summer (our favorites)

1 pair of rain boots – love Hunter boots. So easy for toddlers to slip on and take off. We also got this umbrella and it’s adorable. Along the same vein, I always buy 1-2 raincoats by Petit Bateau – usually in bold red or yellow but this green is beautiful.

1 pair of snow boots if the winter looks like a snowy one. We bought some by See Kai Run last year from Ramer’s. Highly recommend them if you’re planning a trip out west or somewhere it will snow

Can you sprinkle in Cientas and darling loafers? Of course! I’ve found loafers to be a bit difficult to size with wide toddler feet, so I’ve largely held off after some unsuccessful online orders, but Elephantito has some very cute ones.

Our favorite socks currently are these by Gap Kids. Bombas fit a little tight in the ankle (the ankle socks I linked probably fit better than the ones I got that come up mid-calf). Jefferies never disappoints. We like their athletic socks. For dressier occasions – again, since we are mostly in tennies, saddles, or sandals – La Coqueta has the softest knee- high socks and regular socks.

What else do you buy for your littles’ feet?
