Beating the Heat at Twilight Polo

It was a scorcher of a weekend, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying an evening out at The Plains for Twilight Polo.

I’ve talked about my love of blue and white as a color palette in this post. It’s the perfect backdrop for so many pairings, and this tabletop is just another example of why. Our silver, rattan, white, and lettuceware pieces popped against the blue and white paisley backdrop.

I brought along one of my essentials for the summer: my flatware caddy. It keeps utensils, paper straws, cups, and napkins neat and contained whether you’re tailgating or picnicking.

Our spread included everything from antique silver to a few of my favorite Beatriz Ball pieces to easy-to-use (and toss) disposable dishes. As you can see from above, we had so much food that we ran out of tablecloth!

For our florals, we opted for a simple arrangement of a few big hydrangea blooms, provided by our fabulous friend, Courtney. It’s a go-to for easy elegance. Don’t mind ours, which were wilting in the heat like the rest of us!

Here’s what we served:

  • Sara’s ham and cheese sliders
  • caprese bites (here’s a link to my recipe)
  • veggie tray (carrots, celery, and cucumber slices)
  • hummus
  • guacamole
  • Sloane’s pasta salad
  • Rachael’s summer spinach salad
  • Courtney’s rice cereal treats
  • my Texas cowboy cookies
  • fabulous cheese and charcuterie boards
  • hubby’s fried chicken and homemade honey mustard and hot BBQ sauces
  • Sery’s fruit salad
  • so many dips and sweets

To cool off, we had all kinds of chilled beverages, including Court’s homemade limoncello. You can find our recipe here from our farewell to summer party.

My fabulously chic friend, Courtney, blending in.

Huge thanks to Courtney for most of these pics and for all of our friends for contributing to today’s post!
